I am sure it will not go into production but they hit the concept out of the park. If you look closely you can see the slightest hint of a boattail . Very slight but it is there and I adore a good boattail.

That's more than a hint. Little chance it will make production, but it looks great. Large cars need to make a comeback!

Agreed there is a certain grace and beauty to them that the others cars will just never have.

And it is a wonderful and magical thing indeed. I doubt we will ever see it on the roads however

I disagree strongly. It's all about perspective. My '73 LeSabre is large. I can carry 6 people and all their luggage without anybody being squished and everyone has a seat belt. The Park Avenue (Lucerne?) is the last car Buick made that could come close. The Impala is a mid-size car IMO. (Maybe the new one is different but I know last decades Impala) I'm 6'4" and don't fit well in many small cars. It's been one of the things that always turned me off on most japanese designed cars (Subaru, Toyota). Buicks have always fit me well and been comfortable. My wife's DD is an '08 Passat Wagon, it's big enough for 4 comfortably, 5 if you squeeze in the back seat. It's definitely a "mid-size" car in my book.

I suppose that's a good point. I guess a more accurate statement would be that small modern cars aren't really small. The problem with manufacturers making larger cars now is that most people that want or need a truly large car buy an SUV.

The other problem is that with side impact protection standards and just modern style cabins have gotten narrower, I think. Plus front bench seats are long gone now. So if you want to haul 6 people comfortably you need 3 rows.

In summation I suggest buying a Ford Flex.

I hear you. The Flex intrigues me, but I've never been a 'Ford guy'. By the time we need another car hopefully I can get over that. I was never a fan of Subarus either (having worked on too many old rusted out ones) and when we were wagon shopping it came down to Outback/Forester vs Passat Wagon, it was the seats and fit in the Passat that sold me. The Passat is also a lot more fun to drive than either big Subaru was. I hope the Flex can be as much fun to drive!

I've driven ecoboost Flex, it wasn't fun exactly, but it was quick.

Also my main gripe with Subaru is that their seats are exactly comfortable, at all so I can totally see choosing the VW over them for that reason. Especially because VW makes some nice leather seats.

Oh being a tall guy you may hate the Ford because the center console will touch your right knee.

I'm used to my legs not fitting right, especially if someone is going to sit behind me. As long as the seats are comfortable I'm good. But I also DIY repairs up to a pretty high level, so I like to know the mechanics are sound too.
